PostHeaderIcon The RangePlus Design

Some say that the RangePlus WRT110 looks a bit like a UFO. It comes in a flat case with sloped top, rounded corners, and an attractive dark blue color. The best part about the router’s design is the lack of external antennas. It’s basically an internal antenna without those long things sticking out. This is truly a compact router. While other antenna-free routers tend to be bulky, the WRT110 has a flat plate-like design. The shape makes it stay more grounded to the surface, a necessity for its light weight.
The router’s layout is simple and effective. If you look in the back, you will see four 10/100 LAN ports, a WAN port, the reset button, and the power plug. On top, toward the front part of the router, you’ll find the blue LED indicators that show the status of the different ports, the wireless connection, connection to the Internet, and the power availability. In the middle of those LEDs you’ll find a button that initiates the Wi-Fi Protected Setup. This so-called WPS is a feature that allows you to add a WPS-enabled client to the wireless network without the need to manually type in the encryption key.
On the downside, the WT110 doesn’t have a USB port. This means it doesn’t support any USB-related features such as print serving, network storage, or Windows Connect Now, which lets you transfer the wireless encryption key using a thumbdrive. It also doesn’t support Gigabit Ethernet, which is disappointing but not surprising considering its low price. Also, the sleek casing, while very nice looking, tends to retain dust and fingerprints.

PostHeaderIcon The Good Thing About the RangePlus-n Wireless Router WRT110

The RangePlus-n Wireless Router WRT110 is very easy to setup and very easy to handle. The sleek design and compact design, plus the blue colored LEDs make it a great addition to any room. The RangePlus technology was designed to work with N adapters. This model, in particular, offers an obvious improvement in both its performance and range.
Moreover, the Linksys WRT110 RangePlus is unconventional and stylish. This is ideal when the Wireless-G and Wireless-N clients can coexist. Just for you to know, this device is not a Draft N router, and neither is it a Wireless-G router. It wonderfully works with both specifications. It supports the 802.11g standard. However, this technology takes advantage of the throughput threshold of the draft 802.11n specification. It also offers improved speed when it is used with the Draft N wireless clients.
During its testing phase, the WRT110 delivered near N throughput on the mixed-mode benchmark. No other router out there offers the near N speed like the Linksys WRT110. It provides more range and despite its lack of Gigabit Ethernet support and no USB ports, this is still considered a smart choice.
It’s worth noting that the WRT110′s performance is excellent and roughly twice as fast as the fastest ones, even when compared to similar routers out there. Its excellent range is on par with the Draft N adapters. You can even get a signal from more than 250 feet away, and when placed in its most ideal setting, the number can even increase.
